Talent Management and Learning & Development Lead Africa


Role Outline


To provide HR support in development and delivery of the global Talent, Acquisition, L&D and CertifiedHR strategies for the African cluster, enabling the achievement of overall business plan; attracting and retaining talent and ensuring the desired workforce profile.


Key areas of responsibility include:


  • Facilitating the relationship between regional Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified functions and local HR
  • Developing the overall performance of the Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified HR functions, implementing core measurement processes, goals and deployment methodologies
  • Deploying appropriate Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified solutions, processes and programmes
  • Building strategies for supporting the developing markets within the region
  • Work with Centres of Expertise to ensure world class HR deployment
  • Ensuring a strategic workforce and critical talent plan for Africa, managing succession and implementing bench strategies
  • Working with management to develop solutions and talent strategies to enable the success and growth of the Supply Chain in Africa
  • Supporting the career management and development of top talent within the organisation
  • Aligning globally in the implementation of compensation and benefits strategies which support the retention and attraction of key talent and the engagement of the general workforce.
  • Management of the EDR and LEADS processes
  • Provide analysis and reporting on regular activities - Data management and reporting of performance related data (eg. Panel Results)
  • Support the development of the Talent Pool for the Cluster, co-ordinate 360 feedback and other psychometric tests as required.
  • Partnering with Business Heads and Directors to ensure a ready supply of the right skills at the right time
  • Support in the recruitment and development of all specialised positions and positions at a Senior Management
  • Aligning globality in the implementation of compensation and benefits strategies which support the retention and attraction of key talent and the engagement of the general workforce.
  • Deploy and Train critical processes such as GTS, Annual Performance review processes, etc
  • Assist the business in identifying training needs
  • Collating the training budget for DSC sub-clusters
  • Accountable for Graduate, Internship and Learnership programs. Recruiting, onboarding, coaching and responsible for identifying and sourcing funding for learning and training activities.
  • Facilitate recoveries and funding from the government and other institutions. Management of ETI tax incentives
  • Attend HR and L&D team meetings and management meetings where required to keep up to date with organisational priorities and how these can be supported by the L&D processes.
  • Create database of preferred internal and external L&D suppliers, having a quick response to L&D queries
  • Maintain basic financial records of expenditure on L&D activity
  • Ensure proper TALD and Certified reporting and provide reports as required
  • Keep abreast of legal implications in relation to statutory and mandatory training requirements


Skills Development:


  • Support with the Employment Equity Report & Plan for submission to the Department of Labour
  • Develop Workplace Skills Plan which complies with the requirements of the SETA and local legislation
  • Submit the WSP to the relevant SETA
  • Draft an Annual Training Report (ATR) on the implementation of the WSP
  • Advise the business on the quality assurance requirements set by the SETA
  • Act as a contact person between the employer and the sector SETA
  • Facilitate the development of employees in the organisation and the strategies of the organisation equally and fairly
  • Evaluate the skills development needs of the employees and organisation and continually evaluate the implementation of identified needs
  • Formalise the qualifications of employees through recognition of prior learning
  • Perform any other ad hoc related activities / duties as requested by your manager


Projects


  • Deploying processes and tools to support the employee lifecycle enhancing the manager and employee experience
  • Driving the development and implementation of effective processes which enable the annual cycles which support succession planning
  • Leading the development and delivery of processes to support the core HR disciplines, driving consistency and regional/global standards
  • Ensure that all Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified solutions are supported by solid and efficient processes


People Management


  • Driving all key people management principles at a cluster level

  • Manage Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified by providing direction, structure, goals and feedback


Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experiences


  • Tertiary Degree
  • 5 - 10 years experience in an HR leadership position
  • Technical & Professional expertise as a Generalist with specific in-depth in the Talent, Acquisition, L&D and Certified fields.
  • Experience within the Logistics Sector would be beneficial

  • Experience within Africa countries would be beneficial
